Just as the Rainbow

Just as the rainbow leaves no lasting glare on the sky
So the tears graze not my face after I’ve cried
Yes, the only lasting victim after you said ‘goodbye’
Was the door when you slammed it to kindling

Azalea’s your eyes and magnolias your teeth
And henbane your heart all wilt into a wreath
For beneath every blood red rose the thistle bears it’s teeth
Just to laugh at the lover who clasped it

I long for that nameless shrouded stranger to appear
Rest his hand on my shoulder and I’ll sleep for ever more
Oh, but heaven’s too much effort so it’s a-helling I must go
But the fire alarms all keep me from sleeping
